That Tarleton State University Free Project chapter, known as Texans Against Slavery, is a new chapter dedicated to raising awareness of human trafficking issues. They currently have 12 active members and are planning events for the 2014-2015 year. On November 24, 2014, they are hosting Free Project Director Dr. Stacey Robertson, who will present on the “Voices of Abolitionists Past: Using History to Understand Slavery Today”. Hoping to bring in over 150 attendees from around the Stephenville community, this event will introduce the complicated and difficult issues of modern-day slavery. Texans Against Slavery is using print and social media to advertise this event, disseminating fliers through university email to faculty and students.
