Many of our departmental courses and much of our scholarship focus on slavery and antislavery topics, and we want to try to make connections between historical slavery and modern slavery in order to inspire activism among students and historically inform the activism of professionals. We also believe HBCUs should have a special place in this movement. Albany State, with its history of student activism and direct ties to the African American Freedom Movement, is an ideal outlet for The Free Project.
